Monday Morning
Monday is the 2nd day of the week but the first work day for many people who work Monday through Friday or Saturday. On Monday, you may not want to be reminded it is Monday and a long time until the weekend when you can “live again”. But our point of view is crucial to the quality of life we lead.

An old friend, Yvonne Rench, sang a song “Good Morning, Lord” on her album, “There’s Something I’ve Been Wanting To Tell You.” While Yvonne sings “Good Morning, Lord”, a more common greeting to Monday morning for many would be, “Good Lord, it’s morning.” On Monday morning, however, whether we admit it or not will not change the fact that it is Monday. God has given us a wonderful privilege of making choices. We can decide how to approach life and in that deciding is the opportunity to greatly affect our enjoyment and fulfillment. Why not make a quality decision of your will to start your day and your week with an anticipation of good things happening; why not be enthusiastic about what you are doing today. Why not say with Yvonne, “Good morning, Lord.”
Should you choose this rather radical approach I want to be “up front” with you and warn you to expect some difficulty from other’s reaction to your enthusiasm. We live and work, in the main, with people who are negative in their mindset and they don’t want anyone spoiling their rotten attitude. If you want to check me out on this, just say something like, “Isn’t this a fantastic day?” Or ask the grocery store check out clerk, “How are you doing?” You will likely hear, “Fair”, “Okay” or “Lousy.”
The lazy way of just floating along is the easier way in the short run but in the long run, it is much harder. Why not choose to have a good week regardless of what happens. Even if you’re surrounded with adverse circumstances, much like a NFL quarterback being blitzed from 4 directions at once, continue to be thankful and expectant of better things ahead. Everyone faces difficulties, it is how you face them that counts. Let the “Greater One” within you rise up to help you put things over today. His power within the believer will enable you to overcome every circumstance. When adversity seeks to circumference you, keep trusting the Lord and keep expecting good and a way of escape will come along to enable you to go on through.
James Irwin was a pilot who was in an airplane crash. His two legs were broken, his jaw and he had a brain concussion which caused amnesia. It took two years of diligent work, counseling and even truth serum to get his memory back. But within two years he was flying an airplane again. He had a dream of becoming an astronaut and applied to the US Corp of Astronauts but he was rejected. He tried again and was rejected again. He was rejected a third time but he became the 8th man to step foot on the moon. Does this seem unusual to you? It is not really unusual for the positive, expectant, persistent person. Why not begin today by giving your life direction by determining to let this week be great! May you be inspired to greatness through our Great Lord.
